Black and white photographs of a Northumberland Beach
Trying to get a handle on the fuji X-Pro 1 :rarely get the chance to have a stroll these days.
plenty of detail in the shadows, probably lost on many a screen, but not in a print.
many photographs and a few words, as I wander - commissions accepted / prints for sale / all texts and photos copyrighted Christophe Chevaugeon unless otherwise stated

Hard to keep life in this very downsized for web version.
Last image that I’ve edited this year, today to be precise,a sign of a turning point towards a more documentary approach. Thanks for interacting with me throughout the year and wishing you a meaningful 2015. And thank you very much for continuing to share your work !
Thousands of people probably stop here each year to take this view…..Edited this today. Printed on A2 .
Chevaugeon Photo : Portfolio and Prints
I recently went on a road trip to Skye via Glencoe. I had two very different cameras : a bulky high res Nikon D800 DSLR with a tilt and shift lens on a stand and the fuji X-Pro. I’ve never particluarly sought to produce either pretty or ugly images, if I am moved by what’s in front of me then I’ll aim to capture it and translate it as best I can, beautiful or ugly or plain for that matter. I always hope to capture something beyong decorativeness. It was strange stumbling across the portrait of the little girl left at the foot of a tree and stranger still encountering that dead deer ( don’t look if you don’t want to see it) on the edge of the road amongst some rubbish. Can you see the flock of birds flying away from the cemetery ?
The Felton 45 Gallery ( Northumberland UK), just across the street from me, invited local photographers to present some of their work. In the end , I decided on this set of 6 regional landscapes, linked by a touch of romantcism….
The photographs are printed by me on A3+ Harman Fiber Base Glossy Paper using an epson 3880 with Epson ultrachrom K3 inks: my favourite combination of paper and ink, akin to the feel of the glossy fiber based archival silver halide prints I used to make. Each print is catalogued, numbered and signed. The image size is either 30cm by 30cm or 30 cm by 40 cm. They are temporarily mounted, to make professionaly framing them by the buyer ieasier in the future. As they are, they retail at slightly under a hundred pounds. See my article/post about prints made by me.

I’ve always loved the movement in this photo. I long to go back there on my little scooter on a warm ( by Northumberland standards ) spring day.

A fairly classic black and white landscape, I hope it’s not too “Ikea” if you get my meaning.
Un paysage noir et blanc assez classique. J’espère qu’il n’est pas trop dans le style “Ikéa” si vous me comprenez.
Walking back from a stroll around Malham Cove.
I’d forgotten the aim of this blog: to share photos that matter to me and offer now and again a word about photography and photographers; I was so busy thinking about where to go next with (my ) photography that I couldn’t bring myself to post.
Yes, I am for the first time in my life thinking of going beyond being a little Jacques Henri-Lartigue photographer of my world. I’ve always submitted photos however personal with the hopes that a tiny element in them might appeal to viewers other than myself, might resonate with their own experience and emotions and I offer you this portrait of my J with the same hope.
Life is over before you know it: a damp trail in the North, a bit of light through the mist, a shout to my J that turned to smile at me, an instant , a treasure, it’ll never happen again just like that…Yes a photo I really care about .

F….screen shots, long live prints. Just printed this on A2 Harman gloss on an epson 3880 with archival inks:nothing beats a print. This one comes alive on a fair sized print
M …aux captures d’écrans, vivent les épreuves. Je viens juste de “tirer” cette image avec une espson 3880 sur Harman Gloss A2, rien ne vaut une épreuve. Cette image prend vie à un format assez grand
